Probably the most expensive and yet unimpressive Indian restaurant in Muscat. If you want a good meal, good atmosphere and excellent service, there are better places in town. The Woodlands restaurant in Ruwi is a far better choice.
Environment: Huge Wooden Door. Oppulent dining room that is only polished below Indian height. bowl shaped chandaliers hanging from the ceiling are full of dust. The view is nice from the huge windows along one wall as the entire restaurant shares a hill decorated by a colorful waterfall (water pump driven) that over looks Qurum Beach.
Food: Fair. There are better Indian restaurants in town that are cheaper. My wife and I both had chicken curry style dishes. They don't have butter naan. They have every other type of naan though.
Service: I would say snobbish, but I couldn't understand but every 5th word the waiter spoke and yet he seemed to understand us completely. He wound up ordering us extra food we didn't order and charging us for it and he refused to get us a take-away box for the leftovers.

Totally Agree. I have no idea how Mumtaz mahal has survived for so long.
